Supreme Court Cases Assignment
Guided Questions:

Objectives:      Students will research different Supreme Court cases
                        Present both sides of each case
                       

State Standards:
12.4.5 Discuss article III of the Constitution as it relates to judicial power, including the length of terms of judges and the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
12.7.7 Identify the organization and jurisdiction of federal, state, and local courts, and the interrelationships among them.

Common Core Standards:
RH 7-  Integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information presented in diverse formats and media (e.g., visually, quantitatively, as well as in words) in order to address a question or solve a problem.
WHST 7 – conduct short as well as more sustained research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question) or solved a problem; narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate; synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation

Activities:

  • Students will work in pairs and select a Supreme Court case.  Each case must be researched and presented to the class.

  • Each presentation will be 5 minutes long (max) and include all the details found on the worksheet called PROFILE.

  • Presentations should be mostly images, and only a few words.

  • Presentations must be PRESENTED…not READ.  You may use cue cards.

  • A presentation rubric will be posted on the website.

  • Presentations will begin on Mon. Dec. 11th.

  • All presentations must be in its own media (flash drive).
